A lovely large floppy notebook printed in a vibrant single pantone on an earthy grey card. A few years ago I visited one of my brothers who was living in Japan at the time and I was fortunate enough to gain a real insight into an incredible country full of stark contrasts - respected ancient traditions alongside state of the art technology. I met some wonderful people and returned feeling healthier than I have ever felt either before or since. This design is inspired by a Japanese woodblock print called The Great Wave off Kanagawa by Hokusai (1832) a print of which is in the British Museum. I worked on my version on holiday in Cornwall in the evenings after surfing and getting washed up in some very powerful waves.
Climbing trees, picnics in meadows, jumping waves and making camps in bracken... simple fun.
